Employers - Click here to find out how we can help
S4SNextGen work with Employers, Professional Bodies, State Schools and Students across the UK to offer invaluable opportunities. Click the relevant tab below to find out more.
We work with the leading employers represented in the S4S speaker network. These are an array of esteemed organisations who share our passion for improving social mobility and actively helping raise the aspirations of the highest-need students in our state schools and colleges.
Ways we are working with different employers:
Firms new to working with schools & young people:S4SNextGen wants to support these employers in overcoming common hurdles and misconceptions around hosting students. We will do this by providing best-practice toolkits with easy guides and templates to help them design a programme feasible and scalable, even for small firms and teams.
Many organisations, even those with robust graduate and internship programmes, might have an ad-hoc solution to their ‘work experience’ offer given other demands on their time. S4SNextGen helps centralise these efforts and provide support for applications via our Employer Dashboards, as well as useful resources to create a programme that reaches the students who need these opportunities the most.
Corporates & Existing Programmes:S4S is working alongside robust work experience schemes (and related opportunities) to ensure reach to our diverse network of state schools and increase diversity of student intake. S4S can help expand awareness of existing work experience schemes to state schools who aren't as well-connected, and help signpost great work already being done to our network of companies and firms as case studies.
S4S is collaborating with major membership bodies and professional institutions to help better understand the challenges facing employers and other stakeholders and share industry best practice. We are working with them to mobilise their members’ organisations to take part in efforts that will improve industry diversity, invest in future talent and contribute to social mobility.

All state maintained secondary schools and colleges in the UK are eligible to apply for our programmes. S4SNextGen placements are available to state secondary schools, colleges and academies (14-19 years) to help them access opportunities often available to fee-paying schools.
S4SNextGen prioritises those schools and students who need work experience opportunities the most and would otherwise not be able to access quality placements at esteemed organisations. As well as teachers registering to put students forward, your students will need to register too to put in their application.
Click here to register your school and select students with S4SNextGen.
Most placements are for 15-18 year olds, however any student between the ages of 14-19 attending a state secondary school or college can register with S4SNextGen.
You will need to have teacher approval (they register with us, too) and parental permission before submitting any applications, but can start the sign-up process here.
Where we work
Our wider charity Speakers for Schools has links with over 1,800 state secondary schools and colleges across the UK. Employers are encouraged to offer their placements in their regional and satellite offices to help reach students with fewer opportunities.
