This is an exciting
opportunity to gain insight into working for the national tourist board.
Tourism is currently worth
£127 billion to Britain’s economy and as Britain’s seventh largest export
industry, inbound tourism’s economic contribution is currently valued at £26.2
billion.
VisitBritain/VisitEngland
are non-departmental public bodies, funded by the Department for Digital,
Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS). The organisation plays a unique role
in building England’s tourism product through raising Britain’s profile
worldwide, increasing the volume and value of tourism exports, growing the UK’s
valuable business events sector and developing England and Britain’s visitor
economy.
Working
with a wide range of partners in both the UK and overseas, our mission is to
make tourism one of the most successful and productive sectors for the UK
economy.
The
VisitBritain/VisitEngland insight day has been created to provide students with
a view into the world of tourism. Throughout the day the team will share what
they do and will also give those taking part the opportunity to get involved in
