PRIORITY GIVEN TO STUDENTS FROM NORTH LONDON

Bowmer + Kirkland is one of the UK’s top 20 construction companies, working on projects across the country. As well as large developments such as offices, universities, and hotels, B+K are also a key partner to the government in building new schools for primary and secondary students.

You can join B+K for a fact-finding day about the construction industry and how our jobs are built, from planning stages through to handover. Focusing on the Saracens school project, you’ll explore the different jobs – both on site and in the office – that are helping to bring it all together. Our staff and subcontractors will explain the many different pathways into a construction career. This might be looking at a trade worker’s progression from a bricklayer to team leader, or, starting life as a trainee quantity surveyor and working your way up to commercial manager. As many of our own staff joined us after completing college, they can tell you about combining university studies with working on site, all whilst earning a wage.

On the day, you’ll hear from speakers about life at B+K and what it’s like working on site to build a new school, as well as other insights into construction life. There’s an opportunity to ask questions of staff at all stages of their career – their daily routines, how they got where they are, and what makes construction a diverse and exciting industry to work in. There is also a workshop on how to write a great CV and what employers will be looking for when they hire new staff. You’ll understand how to tailor your personal profile and experiences to match the jobs you’re going for, making it more likely that you’ll be a good pick for that new role or trainee position.
