The Green Skills National Competition with Anglian Water will run from 09:00 till 15:00.

In 2015 the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address some of the biggest issues the world is currently facing – poverty (Goal 1) Hunger (Goal 2) and Gender Equality (Goal 5) are just some of them.In our Green Skills Competition we would like you to focus on two goals relating to green skills:

  • Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Goal 13 – Climate action.

Over the course of the day, your project team will hear from Anglian Water about the importance of these goals to their businesses in the UK and the world.

For many, a warming climate system is expected to impact the availability of basic necessities like fresh water, food security, and energy making it one of the greatest challenges of our time. Increases in global temperature and sea level rises are already impacting the World through droughts, fire, and floods.

You will get the opportunity to speak to people working in the water industry and find out the impact climate change is having on their work.

In your teams, you will come up with a solution to one of these climate change challenges with the support of an employer mentor. All teams will then submit a video of their idea and pitch it to an expert panel.

Our panel will choose the most innovative idea to win the battle to adapt to climate change.

The winners will receive a coaching session from influential speakers and a place on our National Green Skills Youth Council.

This is a great opportunity for anyone with a passion for the environment, politics, and innovation to learn new skills, meet employers and work on a global solution to one of the most pressing challenges the world is facing right now.
