The civil engineering and built environment industry offers a wide array of roles, disciplines and specialisms, but what do they involve?

As one of the world’s leading engineering professional services consultancies, WSP brings clarity and vision to complex challenges. Our team of technical specialists and strategic advisers across the UK is part of a talented global family of expertise. Together, we ensure that innovative solutions solve complex problems for our clients and the communities we serve, meeting both the needs of today and addressing the challenges of the future.

This insight day, organised by WSP Birmingham, is aimed at increasing awareness of the civil engineering and built environment sectors through the delivery of various interactive sessions. This will provide students with an introduction into some of the different roles, disciplines and specialisms that make up this exciting industry.

Students will also gain an insight into how WSP are tackling the climate change and net-zero challenge by learning about ‘Future Ready’: WSP’s global innovation programme which is at the heart of every WSP project and operation.

The sessions will be prepared and delivered by WSP professionals based in Birmingham who will be on hand to share their own experience of the industry. Presenters will also provide advice and guidance on the various career routes into the industry, with a primary focus on graduate and apprenticeship opportunities. This will also include CV and interview tips, and there will be plenty of time for Q&As throughout the day.
