SMBP (Social Mobility Business Partnership) is a volunteer-led charity. SMBP is a collaboration of 150+ commercial organisations, professional services firms and professional sports teams working across 18 towns/cities. All are committed to supporting Years 12 and 13 students from low-income backgrounds in their pursuit of a career in business. Since 2014, SMBP has grown from offering opportunities to 20 students in London to over 500 student places across the UK in 2020.

Week 1 – Reed Smith Legal Week (2nd – 5th August 2021, 4 days) will take place virtually on 2nd, 3rd and 4th August and on the 5th a 2-hour office visit at Reed Smith’s London office.

Week 2 – SMBP (9th – 13th August 2021, 5 days plus an induction on Friday 6th August, 4.00 - 5.30pm). The induction for the week will be hosted by SMBP via Zoom. The placement days will take place virtually and possibly face-to-face (to be confirmed) at a variety of commercial companies and a sports club. The companies involved are Aviva, Fremantle, Barclays Bank, CCEP and Arsenal Resilience day.

This programme is suitable for students keen to pursue a career in law OR a business industry. Applicants should be hardworking, open-minded and enthusiastic.

Taking part in this programme will enable you to build skills such as: presenting, interviewing, influencing, resilience and negotiation. You will also be armed with experience that you can use on your CV, LinkedIn profile and personal statements and as a talking point for university and job interviews.
