Session Aims and Objectives

In this session, you will explore the theme of mental health in the workplace. Hearing from a Community Liaison Officer in our Renewables Business describes her journey and experience of balancing life & a demanding but important career. We will explore what makes company support and protect its workforce, particularly through these fast-paced times as we learn to work with the new normal. You will build knowledge to further understand how to create a working environment that is right for you.

You will be required to think about how employers can improve access to mental health support and ensure proud and productive workforces are developed. We will delve into what SSE are doing to be a leading energy company in a net-zero world and how culture and values remain core.

Learning outcomes

You will be able to understand the role of a Mental Health First Aider at Work, identify the "Do`s & Don`ts" whilst gaining an appreciation of the importance of an organisation offering support to their workforce.

Acknowledge how we can work to continuously improve health & happiness in the workplace.

Placement Notes

The session runs from 9.30 am to 11.30 am on the Google Classrooms platform. Logins will be arranged for selected students.
