bmJV is a joint venture comprising two major construction companies, who work together on M27 Junction 4 to 11 Smart Motorway Scheme on behalf of Highways England.

Smart motorways use innovative technology to manage traffic, ensuring that the motorist’s journey time is more reliable. Using variable speed limits, overhead signs and CCTV, smart motorways help to tackle congestion, while supporting the local economy.

This work experience opportunity will enable you to understand more about working in the sector, while opening your eyes to a number of different career paths you may not have known even existed. Through spending time with different departments and functions, you will learn about how they each play a part in completing the project. Over the course of a week you’ll then prepare your own project, which you will present to us at the end of the week.

There will be opportunities to speak to apprentices as well as people at different stages of their career, and find out more about their journey to the role they are in.

Departments you will speak with include: engineering, design, digital engineering, technology, health and safety, environment, procurement, project management and traffic management.

• Students who have not previously had work experience and do not have access to other opportunities (such as via parents) are especially encouraged to apply.
• We cannot guarantee a specific department for you to experience, so please be prepared to undertake a one-week taster of all key departments in a top construction organisation.
