We are the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries.

At Ofcom you will help ensure that people in the UK get the best from their communications services. This includes television, radio, telecoms, broadband and post. You will be joining Ofcom at a time where the work that we do reaches more people, more often, than ever before. From helping to shape the future of broadcasting our work can be as varied as television policy and content standards investigations to the upcoming launch of 5G mobile services and research projects such as the recent “box set Britain” report.

We are offering a virtual introduction to the work of Ofcom with an opportunity to hear from our Apprentices and Graduates on their experiences and a number of introductory sessions on subjects such as:

  • Being an Economist at Ofcom
  • Making Sense of Media
  • Engineering at Ofcom
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Video Sharing Platforms
  • Public Service Broadcasting
  • Using market research insights
  • Few organisations cover as broad a range of subject matters, skills and career pathways as Ofcom. From economics to engineering, policy to accountancy, business administration to technology. If there is a particular sector of the communications industry or a work area that you would like to gain experience our work experience placements will provide a valuable first step.

    Please note:

  • Be sure to read all the details as applications will be selected based on enthusiasm and open-mindedness for this specific opportunity, organisation and industry.
  • Students will need to be able to be available for the week and the sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Teams.
  • Final deadline for applications is Friday 15th January, however students may be selected before this date so please submit your application as soon as possible to give yourself the best chance.
